Pluralsight: Learn Tech Skills App Reviews

Works but usability lacking

Content steams fine - iPad is a great platform for training. But why do I have to navigate through a huge pile of courses just to get back to the last one I was working on? Why do catalog updates happen in the foreground and make me wait seemingly each day I launch the app? With a few usability features this app would be great.

Massive improvement

The app is completely overhauled and looks fantastic. iOS 7 styling throughout and countless new features that Im sure were requested many times. I can see what modules Ive watched and can easily navigate and download any module. I still think it takes too long to refresh the catalogue on startup, and after viewing course details and returning to home, I lose what category I was viewing. Overalls a much welcome and needed update.

Needs get back to development

When i start a video it just freezes on "fetching video" alert. I have to delete the app and download it again. I was really locking forward to have it on my ipad...

Latest update keeps crashing

Not sure if its because of ioS7 but the latest update constantly freezes on me. I can only watch 1 video at a time - when the video ends and the next lesson is being fetched, the app just sits there frozen.

Version 1.9.2 crashes

Decided to update and now app flat out does not work...

Video playback issues

This app needs a lot work. You just need to do simple tests to know the app has some serious issues. 1) select a course and then Select a video to watch, you see the entire UI blocked when the video is fetched. This is very sad as it takes up to 5 minutes for the video to load and makes for unresponsive UI. 2) The web servers that host the videos are slow to respond. 3) The UI is inconsistent with the website. Where are the learning paths?

Its ok

Not enough features. Could have things like - forward or rewind X number seconds - bookmarks - incorporate learning paths - why no assessments - transcripts should be available - coincide with where currently at with video

Great content, missing critical features

Video progress does not synch across devices and the web. Very difficult to keep a placeholder on progress. A little surprising, given the content they host...

Stuck updating

First thing I see upon opening the app is a screen with a timer for updating catalog. It has never gotten past this. Too bad.

Nice ... But missing some important features

This app lists the Pluralsight catalog, plays the modules selected and even allows you to do up to 30 modules offline. However, its missing two important features: AirDrop and the ability to print a given screen. I would have given it a much higher score had it had these two features.

App is unusable

Videos dont work in this app. 90% of the time when I try to watch a video, a loading screen is displayed. It never goes away. I have to exit the app and restart it. This is very annoying since videos need to load frequently in this app.

Awful performance

For a pay service this app works horribly. Videos dont load and is a poor reflection on the company if they pride themselves on good teaching. Whoever built the app either needs to watch the videos on app development or the videos are garbage. Either option isnt great. Save your money and buy another learning service.

Better than nothing, but needs a lot of work.

The PluralSight app works, but as video streaming apps go, its pretty archaic and doesnt seem to have had much in the way of updates in the last couple years. Its very slow, hard to browse and moderately buggy. Unless you need to use the offline capabilities, youre better off just using the website. If only they had courses on iOS app and UX design...oh...wait...they do!

Have limitations :(

We respect more professional though the app, more than three models. Also the performance for the app was frizz always:( Thanks,

Crash all the time on iOS 5.5 (iPad 1)

Since the last version, the app crash all the time on an iPad 1 with iOS 5.5. Im very disappointed ! On my point of view, it was a very nice app before !

5 stars but...

it used to work till I updated to ios9 and now it doesnt. I know this isnt the apps fault cause that means ios9 isnt backward compatible. either apple releases patches or app dev updates their app. im awaiting updates...

Buggy recently

The app used to be ok, but the last few months one an barely use it. The loading video keep on working but never actually load. Have to kill the app, restart it to watch a clip... Each time! Barely working. Must repair soon!

Why not just make pluralsight work on the web on iOS?

The software is halfassed. Thats a shame because its so well done on the website. Bookmarks dont move between this app and the web app. Your position in training doesnt sync. On the web none of that matters. The interface there is beautiful and nothing needs to sync because you sign in to the same place no matter what computer youre using. Just make the videos work on the web in iOS and dump this waste of everyones precious time. Sorry. Make it well or stick with the beautiful web one youve already put clearly tones of time in to.

Wow

Amazing job, pluralsight. The app is now completely useable on iPhone, whereas before I needed to watch courses on the laptop or the larger screen of the iPad. Its quick, beautiful and full of useful new features. Im totally impressed and appreciative.

Nice upgrade...

...too bad you forced users to log in again ( a big part of the reason for this app is OFFLINE VIEWING ) and also too bad were forced to re-download our course content ! Please dont bother with any future updates
